What was the purpose of creating micro-holes in soft lenses?
With each blink, tears are gently secreted, forming a protective layer on the eye's surface, encompassing both the conjunctiva and cornea. This intricate process fulfills several essential functions, including preserving visual clarity, supplying oxygen to the cornea from the surrounding atmosphere, providing bactericidal effects, ensuring lubrication of the eyelids, and effectively diluting and removing irritants.
Contact lenses rest upon the tear film that coats the cornea, though soft contact lenses exhibit less mobility in comparison to hard contact lenses (RGP lenses). Consequently, this reduced movement can lead to the entrapment of tears between the lens and the cornea. In such instances, potentially harmful substances like carbon dioxide and lactic acid, by products of corneal metabolism, may accumulate, giving rise to adverse lens-related effects, including corneal damage, swelling, and bacterial infections, among others. Thus, maintaining efficient tear circulation between the lens and the cornea emerges as a pivotal concern when wearing contact lenses, as supported by studies in ophthalmology (Korean Ophthalmological Society) and contact lens clinical research (Korean Contact Lens Society)
Our Dream O2 (clear blue tint) and Dream O2 Beauty (colored) soft contact lenses are engineered with the purpose of establishing micro-tunnels that traverse both the front and back of the lens, thereby enhancing the flow of tears for improved comfort and eye health.
When we immerse our Dream O2 contact lenses in a normal saline solution, we can witness the saline solution being drawn up through the tiny tunnels.(This experiment was conducted with the addition of a fluorescent dye solution to aid in visual identification.)

Questions FAQ
-
Q
What is the duration of use for Dream O2 lenses?
-
A
Dream O2 and Dream O2 Beauty are both lenses that can be used for more than 3 months and have the potential to last up to 1 year with proper care. Users may have concerns about the lens's strength due to the presence of holes (tunnels) in the lens. However, this concern has been addressed through a tensile strength test conducted by a domestic certification agency, which confirmed that these lenses have a tensile strength nearly 10 times that of disposable silicone hydrogel lenses.
-
Q
Does the Dream O2 lens get clogged with debris over time with use?
-
A
Dream O2 and Dream O2 Beauty lenses are designed for daily wear. You wear them when needed, remove them in the evening, wash and soak them in sterilized saline or preservative solution, and wear them again the next day. When using Dream O2 lenses, the holes may become blocked by mucus discharge or foreign substances. However, like other lenses, they can be cleared and restored to their functionality by gently rubbing them with saline solution
